Dr Tony Fernando is a senior lecturer in Psychological Medicine at the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. He is the course coordinator for Undergraduate Training in Psychological Medicine. He has published numerous papers in sleep and psychiatry in both NZ and overseas medical journals.

His current researches in sleep focus on 1) diagnosis of sleep disorders in a general practice setting ( in collaboration with Professor Bruce Arroll of Department of General Practice, University of Auckland) 2) treatment of insomnia ( with Professor Bruce Arroll) and 3) study of circadian rhythms of non sighted individuals ( with Dr Guy Warman of Department of Anesthesia, University of Auckland).
